I'm a guy and I don't give a hoot about sports?
Any other guys out there tired of trying to explain to other males that you don't follow sports? I don't care who scored a touchdown to win the game last night or who's the new head coach of some team I never heard of or which player got traded to which team. I don't know who won the World Series or Super Bowl back to 1975. You'll never see me at any stadium with team colors painted on my face and chest. I happen to think that watching sports is far less enjoyable than actually playing them. However, some people react as if I told them I had some horrible disease when I disclose my non interest in sports. No, I am not some freakish creature from outer space because I don't slavishly follow them. And ladies, what do you think of guys who don't like sports? Turn on or turn off?
I understand and concur.
Unfortunately 'sports talk' is a social lubricant.
It's something neutral you can talk about without 'stepping on any toes'.
Think about what would happen if we didn't have that.
People would actually have to think of something meaningful to say.
They might have to think. They might even discuss politics.
We can't have that going on now can we?
